There is no universal recipe for a happy relationship. Politics, that's not it, says actress Tatiana Dyková.

The popular Czech actress could not miss this year's Czech Lion awards ceremony. Viewers know her from a wide range of film, theater, and radio roles. In a brief interview we managed to have with her on the red carpet, she revealed her perspective on whether artists should express themselves about politics.

She herself already has the statuette that every actor desires. She won the Czech Lion in 2005 for her performance in the film Štěstí.

Awards

During her career, she received a total of 13 nominations. Her very first nomination came in 1995 for a supporting role in the FAMU graduation film Indiánské léto, in which she portrayed a village girl named Marie. She herself says that this role kick-started her career.

Last year, she won in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her role in the eight-part comedy series Limity, which also stars Aleš Háma and Petr Komínek, known from the series Ulice.

In addition to nominations for the Czech Lion, she can also boast nominations for other prestigious awards: Thalia Award, Alfréd Radok Award, Invisible Actor Award, and Invisible Actor of the Century.

She is also a recipient of international festival awards – for the film Companion, she won an award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in 2001. During the Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale, she received the title of “Shooting Star” as part of the selection of young European acting talents.

First marriage didn't work out

In 2005, she married film producer Pavel Čechák, who produced a number of well-known films such as From Subway with Love, Holiday Makers, or I Served the King of England. They have two sons together. However, their marriage fell apart in 2013.

In the same year, she began dating the singer and actor Vojtěch Dyk, with whom she married in 2019. From her second marriage came another son. Pavel Čechák was then married for about two years to her acting colleague Berenika Kohoutová.

It was with Vojtěch Dyk, who is now also learning conducting, that she arrived at the awards ceremony. Both were beautifully coordinated as a couple in black and white. When we asked her during an interview about her recipe for a happy relationship and mentioned him as her partner, she immediately corrected us, emphasizing that he is, above all, her husband.

"Well, he is even my husband, so the recipe isn't universal. If someone had it, I would accept it myself. It's a challenging journey, definitely the hardest, to live with someone long-term. But it's worth it,"

she replied.

Both of them, even after so many years of living together, still shine by each other's side and clearly enjoy each other's company.

Actors' Teambuilding

While those who received their very first nomination for the Czech Lion often say that they're most looking forward to the award ceremony itself and do not hide their nervousness, for Tatiana, after all these years, it's mainly about meeting friends and colleagues. At least that's what she answered when asked what she looks forward to the most.

"I'm doing great. And what am I looking forward to? I don't know. Seeing my friends. I actually have no idea who will be here. But there will definitely be many familiar names that viewers will recognize, as well as many colleagues we know from the crew,"

she said excitedly.

And she almost immediately confirmed her words with action. Along with her husband, they went to greet a number of well-known acting friends before the start of the ceremonial evening. Among them was none other than the living legend of Czech cinema, Bolek Polívka, who was moving around the hall with a cane, but with a very wide smile. He warmly shook hands with Vojtěch, and they started chatting. Tatiana joined them just a moment later.

They Don't Understand Politics

A large number of actors and other artists express critical opinions about politics, often not hesitating to criticize specific legislators or even the head of state. Recently, her acting colleague Hynek Čermák became known for doing just that, dividing his fans with his statements.

Part of the public holds a significantly critical view of artists' political involvement. They simply believe that artists should stick to their craft and refrain from speaking publicly about politics. Others applaud them and are glad that they use their media presence to highlight political issues.

What does Tatiana think about it? Should actors express their opinions on politics, according to her, or not?

"I don't know if they should or not, I don't express my views on it. I know a lot about my own things that interest me. Politics, that's not the right thing,"

she answered simply.

Charitable Activities

As a well-known figure, she is also involved in charitable activities. Since 2002, she has been organizing with actress Aňa Geislerová and director Petr Serge Butko the Christmas Bazaar in the Wet District – a traditional charity market where celebrities bring and sell items they no longer need or use. The event takes place at Prague's DISK Theatre, runs for several days in December, and the proceeds then go to a good cause. The event also includes concerts or social evenings.

She also became an ambassador of the Avon Walk against breast cancer.
