The writer has many admirers around the world

So far, over 250 million thrillers by author Dan Brown, who according to Time magazine is one of the most influential people in the world, have been sold. The author himself will attend the book's christening, which is scheduled for September at the Old Town Hall in Prague. Our capital will once again attract the attention of the entire world, and the author is likely to profit from millions of newly sold books.

Brown's novels have already been published in 56 languages. Czech is among them. The author has also a considerable number of his fans here. On his visit to the capital, more than ten years ago, he received the award for best-selling book of the decade. At that time, it was Leonardo's Master Code, with more than 100 thousand copies sold.

Magical Prague

The capital clearly impressed Brown. This is where the author set his latest story, as confirmed by Milan Gelnar, director of Argo publishing house.

"He was in Prague several times, we have been eagerly anticipating a book that would take place in the Czech metropolis for several years and we are happy that it is finally here,"

said the publisher for LP-Life.

The Czech Central Tourist Board hopes that the book's draw will attract new visitors to the city. Particularly those who come to us for history and culture. A campaign is also being prepared that will connect the story of the book with specific places. There should also be thematic tourist walks and other products associated with this work.

The covers refer to the metropolis itself, which depicts Charles Bridge. Its author is graphic designer Neil Johnston, who also lives and works in the city.

Langdon is back on track

In the author's latest book The Secret of all Secrets, his hero Robert Langdon, who has already appeared in many of his previous titles, again takes the word. This recognized professor of symbology arrives in our metropolis and goes to a lecture by leading researcher Katherine Solomon, with whom he recently established a romantic relationship. Katherine is preparing to publish a controversial book that brings alarming revelations about the nature of human consciousness and has the potential to refute much of what humanity has firmly believed for centuries.

The peaceful course of their stay in Prague is suddenly disrupted by a brutal murder and absolute chaos ensues: Katherine mysteriously disappears with her manuscript and Langdon becomes the object of interest of a powerful organization and the target of a mysterious attacker who seems to have emerged from ancient Prague legends. And while the plot spills over to London and New York, Langdon desperately searches for Katherine.

"The mystery of all mysteries is my most ambitious novel so far with the most elaborate plot - and also the most entertaining of all. Writing it was an unforgettable journey full of discoveries,"

quoted the writer Czech News Agency.

The new title is starting to sell both here and in New York on September 9. Concurrently with the printed version, an audiobook will also be released. A few days later, the author himself is coming to us to meet the public in the hall of the Prague Lucerna. The fact that Brown is a phenomenon for the domestic audience is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that the vast majority of tickets for this event are already sold out.

Secrets in the First Place

Readers appreciate that his books are written in an extremely readable way, which forces them to read the book almost "in one breath". Dan Brown's work constantly moves on the edge between fiction and reality. The reader often does not know in which area they are currently, and the author deliberately blurs the boundary.

The secret of all secrets is the author's eighth book. He released his debut under the name Digital Fortress already in 1998. Two years later followed Angels and Demons, in which we first meet Professor Robert Langdon. He is summoned to Switzerland to investigate a mysterious symbol burned on the body of a murdered scientist. Then it was Deception Point and the famous Da Vinci Code. In 2009, readers welcomed Lost Symbol and four years later Inferno, which mainly took place in Florence. In Origin, Langdon then goes to Spain, where his former student Edmond Kirsch is about to reveal a discovery that could change the view of the origin and future of mankind.

Three of the author's novels gained fame thanks in large part to their adaptation into feature films with the famous Tom Hanks playing the role of Langdon. These were the titles The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Inferno. Together, these movies earned 2.24 billion dollars, which in conversion is just under 47 billion crowns! From the fourth part, The Lost Symbol, a Peacock series was subsequently made. The actor Ashley Zukerman played Langdon.

The rights to the current book The Secret of All Secrets were bought by Netflix, which is preparing a series based on it. This is likely to further increase interest in Prague over time. Few historical places in the world can receive so much attention. We should appreciate this and thank Brown that he set his latest story in our country.
