The two-day summit in The Hague, Netherlands, will culminate today with formal discussions among member states of the North Atlantic Alliance at the level of heads of state and government. There is expected to be agreement among the allies on increasing defense spending, as well as on continuing support for Ukraine, which is resisting Russian military aggression, according to the website Ceskenoviny.cz.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte proposed increasing the defense spending target to five percent of gross domestic product, with 3.5 percent intended for the military and 1.5 percent for broader security-related expenditures, such as infrastructure, cyber security, or building health facilities.
US President Donald Trump refuted reports by some media outlets that US airstrikes over the weekend did not destroy key parts of Iran's nuclear program, but likely slowed it down for several months, reported by AP. There is no clear information about how much damage Israeli and US strikes caused to the Iranian nuclear program. Over the weekend, the USA attacked three nuclear facilities in Iran. Sources familiar with the assessment of the strikes report, however, suggest that large parts of the Iranian centrifuges remain intact and the impact is confined to above-ground structures.

A young Brazilian tourist, Juliana Marins, fell from the ridge of the massive Indonesian volcano Rinjani, whose peak is 3,726 meters above sea level.
