The widow of Alexei Navalny stated on Wednesday that two independent laboratories found that her husband was poisoned shortly before his death in Russian prison. Navalny, who fought against corruption officials and as the fiercest opponent of President Vladimir Putin organized massive anti-Kremlin protests, died in February 2024 in an Arctic penal colony. He was serving a 19-year sentence, which he considered politically motivated.
The authorities stated that the politician fell ill after a walk, but otherwise did not provide further details about his death. He was 47 years old. In a video released on Wednesday, Julia Navalnaja stated that biological samples from Navalny's body were taken from Russia and tested in two laboratories abroad, wrote the agency AP.
