Caution and playing it safe may not always pay off in fashion.

Eva Decroix as a fashion icon. The minister is a beautiful woman, but she has room for more courage in her outfits.

Polka dots have a very feminine effect

The notion that female politicians must content themselves with just black and white combinations and forget about their passion for fashion no longer holds true. An example is the Minister of Justice, Eva Decroix, who isn't afraid of bold pieces, but it's often noticeable that a stylist would come in handy. Promising outfits are frequently ruined by minor mistakes. For example, trousers that are too long, a missing belt, or a poorly chosen colour combination. And so, sometimes persistent effort results only in a fashion faux pas.

Politics is a world where elegance is always considered. The Minister of Justice Eva Decroix usually opts for dark suits, simple dresses or a white blazer, a combination that can't go wrong. Or can it? This safe choice indeed ensures a representative look, but at the same time, the overall outfit sometimes lacks greater creativity, which would underline her self-confidence and push her among the true fashion icons.

Black as timeless classic

It's no surprise that the Minister often favors dark colors. However, the black suit with the double-breasted jacket and modest buttons is absolutely the best we could have seen her in. She comes across as professional, serious, and exactly as expected from a Minister. It may not stand out for its creativity, but the jacket fits beautifully and accentuates the slim silhouette.

What is a bit striking, though, are the trousers, which could be a few centimeters shorter. Now they reach to the ankles, and with such a narrow cut it looks heavy. It also does not highlight the beautiful shoes, which is a great shame in this case. And if the Minister wished to not go unnoticed, a more distinctive bag could also sustain this outfit. And it wouldn't detract from its gravity. In this case, it shows that although Decroix usually knows what suits her figure, she adheres to modesty and doesn't fully plan out her outfits down to the last detail.

Polka dots added to her femininity

Here Eva Decroix showed that she is not afraid of the female element, which is definitely a good thing. The polka-dot skirt brings a bit of playfulness and tenderness to an otherwise formal outfit, while the white blazer keeps it within professional bounds, which is needed in her position. She looks elegant, the white color suits her. Nevertheless, the skirt seems at first glance to be a summer or possibly a spring piece of wardrobe, which the blazer cut doesn't match that well. An elegant blouse in white would add lightness to the whole outfit. Decroix's choice won't offend anyone, but it won't excite them either.

The white coat in the photo looks more like an outer part, which would normally be worn outside in colder weather, and it seems a little unusual indoors. It has a boxy fit, it’s longer and stiffer, so it resembles more of a lightweight coat than a classic blazer. This might be the reason why the whole outfit seems a bit heavy, even though the polka dot skirt is a hit.

The white blazer as a clear winner

Even though it was a bit of a gamble with the polka dot skirt, whether the white blazer was a good choice, a longer oversized blazer and a nude top is a sure thing. And if you don't have it in your wardrobe yet, here is Eva Decroix as a great inspiration. This outfit belongs to the most modern outfits that Eva Decroix brought out during her political era. Oversized blazers have become a trend in recent years and are inspired by 80s fashion. They returned to the catwalks around 2018 and since then have firmly remained in women's wardrobes who want to look elegant and confident.

The only thing that bothers us a bit is that the sleeves seem rolled up and are probably not pushed up enough to give the whole outfit an even bigger flair. A little tip - if your sleeves don't stay up, try helping yourself with a regular hair band. It will do you a big favor and the jacket will look perfect.

Dark blue dress with leopard scarf

Many will remember the time when such scarves were worn around the neck by absolutely everyone. And they keep coming back into fashion. In the fifties and sixties, elegant ladies' scarves around the neck were a symbol of nobility, often worn by actresses like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly. They were tied shortly under the chin or to the side.

In the eighties, scarves with striking patterns, such as animal prints or geometric shapes, came into fashion. They were worn with sheath dresses, but also with work suits. In the nineties, silk scarves were still perceived as a symbol of elegance, often by female politicians in the public space. A big boom was then experienced by scarves at the beginning of the new millennium, roughly between the years 2000-2005, when almost everyone wore them tied this way.

For Eva Decroix, the leopard scarf around her neck seems a bit "from a past era". It is still elegant, but it reminds of a fashion trend that was most trendy at the turn of the nineties. The dark blue sheath dress is indeed elegant and a very conservative base that undoubtedly belongs to a politician. However, the attempt to liven up the "boring outfit" turned out a bit old-fashioned and didn't actually impress too many people.

Turquoise Evening Dress

In the previous comment, emphasis was put on Eva Decroix not being afraid of vibrant colors, but this is a clear example that it doesn't always turn out well. Turquoise is a daring color that catches the eye at first glance, but in this design, it appears a bit cheap. The fabric, which shines at first glance, at least as seen in the photo, may also be to blame. The asymmetric cut of the dress, especially the extended tail on one side, seems a bit too much and disruptively interrupts the overall line of the dress.

Shoes adorned with ribbons and a gold writing case also don't seem like the happiest combination. The whole lacks lightness and as Decroix usually doesn't try to finish her outfits to the end, here it is clear that she tried too much. And maybe she should have someone on hand to give it the right twist. A great contrast, however, is the outfit of the minister in the DVTV interview, which is similarly expressive, but fits her perfectly. The color of the dress, the cut and hairstyle match perfectly and Eva Decroix looked very good at the time.

Jeans that do not flatter

Grey skinny jeans, which Eva Decroix chose during her summer visit to Karlovy Vary, did not help her outfit much. Faded material can look great and is definitely in vogue, but here the cut of the trousers is so tight that the overall outfit loses elegance. Instead of a casual, but stylish city look, it looks more like a hastily chosen leisure piece, which does not flatter the figure nor create a representative impression. In combination with an otherwise nice white jacket and elegant handbag, the jeans seem a bit inappropriate and downgrade the whole outfit by several classes.

If the trousers were wider, or if Decroix supplemented her trousers with a luxury belt, it would be a different story. However, it can be seen on Eva Decroix's social networks that she does not care much for fashion in private and wears pieces that are mainly comfortable to her. However, being a publicly known woman, it might need a bit more.

Only pink can be... or not?

A pink suit could be a pleasant refreshment of her "political wardrobe", but the result didn't exactly turn out well. The trousers are too long and break at the seams, which looks messy. The jacket has a loose fit, which usually doesn't matter, but in this case, it certainly doesn't add elegance to the figure. Rather, it overwhelms her in the entire outfit.

The combination with a black top is also a big problem. Instead of toning down the pink, it creates a harsh contrast, which is unflattering. The overall impression is further enhanced by the fact that a belt is missing at the waist. The trousers have loops, which makes it even more obvious that a belt would fit perfectly. Instead of fresh elegance, the whole look comes across as cumbersome and unfinished.

In conclusion... Eva Decroix could well be a fashion icon, bringing out the best pieces from her wardrobe. But often she opts for quick and simple solutions in which she unnecessarily drowns. And it's a pity, because she is undoubtedly a beautiful woman, whose slender silhouette gives countless possibilities. Many times, however, it shows that she doesn't probably have a stylist at hand. If it was the other way around, we can imagine that she could become a very striking fashion inspiration on the Czech political scene. And although she tries to live up to her position, as far as the fashion side is concerned, there is definitely room for much greater daring.
