Three previously unknown tombs from the New Kingdom period discovered in Egypt

Egypt revealed three new tombs of significant statesmen at the Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis in Luxor on Monday. Egyptian archaeologists discovered tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550-1070 BC) and identified the names and titles of their owners based on the inscriptions within, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities, stated in a declaration that further study of inscriptions on other tombs is required for a deeper understanding of the tomb owners. The ministry published photos of items found in the tombs, including artifacts and statues. The discovery comes ahead of the anticipated full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, expected this summer, although the final official date has not yet been confirmed. The museum will display more than 100,000 artifacts from ancient Egyptian heritage, the AP agency reported.

British king came to support Canada in rhetorical conflict

British King Charles III. arrived on Monday for his first visit to Canada as head of state and will embark on a highly symbolic journey that many see as a sign of support amid increasingly worsening relationships between Ottawa and Washington. During his two-day visit, the 76-year-old Charles will give a speech in the Canadian parliament. He will be accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla.

Shortly after their arrival on Monday, Charles and Camilla will meet with community organizations in one of Ottawa's parks, the office of the Canadian prime minister said. Later on Monday, the couple will plant a tree on the grounds of Rideau Hall, the usual residence of the monarch when visiting Canada. Charles - who is still being treated for cancer - will attend the state opening of parliament on Tuesday, where he will give the ceremonial throne speech in the Senate, CNN reported.
