The traditional delicacy of the Christmas Eve table has increased in price only slightly this year, according to statisticians, by just over one crown. The Ukrainian version of Star Dance will offer a special episode in which wounded war veterans will perform to remind of the resilience of the nation that has been facing unprovoked Russian aggression in the east of the country for almost 4 years.

The price of live carps has risen compared to last year, but only very slightly. According to the Czech Statistical Office survey, the price per kilogram of live fish weight, which is an integral part of the Christmas table, rose by 1.08 crowns (ie by 0.86 percent). On average, this year a kilogram of carp cost 126.23 crowns. Since 2019, the fish has risen in price by 29.44 crowns (30.42 percent). During the pre-Christmas period, 2500 special places were created throughout the Czech Republic where it is possible to buy live carps. Their number according to the CSO survey remains the same year on year, stated CTK.

War veterans to appear in Ukrainian StarDance

Before the war, the Ukrainian version of StarDance was a popular and popular TV show that captivated viewers with performances by celebrities and professional dancers. The program is now returning with a special episode in which Ukrainian war heroes perform this time, to emphasize the resilience of the nation in hard times.

Many still remember how President Volodymyr Zelensky - then an actor - won the dance competition in 2006, when the show known as "Tantsi z zirkamy" first appeared on screens. In the new special episode, dancers perform with prosthetic limbs and show their strength in overcoming adversities. Among the participants are also publicly known figures that gained fame since the start of the Russian war against Ukraine in February 2022. The show had to face many wartime challenges, including frequent power outages, reported the agency AP.

Greta Thunberg was released from custody, she was arrested for supporting terrorism

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was released from custody after being arrested in London at a pro-Palestinian demonstration on Tuesday. The British activist group Prisoners for Palestine stated that the 22-year-old Thunberg was previously arrested under the terrorism act for holding a banner saying "I support prisoners from Palestine Action. I am against genocide." The British government has designated Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

The police previously stated that two more people were arrested for throwing red paint at the building. The spokesman said that a 22-year-old woman arrived later, who was arrested for displaying a banner in support of a banned organization, reported CNN.

Oklahoma University fires lecturer for giving a bad grade

Oklahoma University has dismissed a lecturer who a student accused of religious discrimination due to a failing grade on a seminar paper on psychology where she quoted the Bible and claimed that promotion of "faith in multiple genders" is "diabolical". The University in a statement published on X stated that its investigation found that the teacher had been "arbitrary" when she gave 20-year-old student Samantha Fulnecky a zero grade for the work. The University refused to comment beyond its statement, in which it said the lecturer "will no longer be carrying out teaching activities".

This case has become the core of an ongoing debate about academic freedom in colleges, while President Donald Trump is trying to end initiatives in the field of diversity, equality, and inclusion and limit discussion about race, gender, and sexuality at colleges, the agency AP reported.
