A meeting on the grounds of the bearer of sovereignty of Czech democracy descended into drunken shouts from MP Miroslav Ševčík (independent for SPD). After dark, things happen in the Parliament that politicians don't boast about in election campaigns. Ševčík is not the first drunkard paid from our taxes, however the boorishness of his speech attacks first place in repulsiveness.
It wasn't so long ago that a proposal to ban alcohol in this supreme chamber of the Czech constitutional order made its way to the floor of the Chamber of Deputies. We were soon to find out why it was swept off the table.
Miroslav Ševčík, during a night session, obviously in a state of intoxication, began shouting "menopause" from the floor when MP Michaela Šebelová (STAN) started speaking at the lectern about MPs' demands for a break in the Chamber's proceedings. Everything is, of course, being virally spread in the form of a video clip on social media.
At one time, for example, the former Speaker of the Chamber Jan Hamáček (ČSSD) enjoyed filming in a tipsy state, who partially repaired his reputation with his commitment in a red sweater during the COVID crisis as Minister of the Interior.
In performing the function of Speaker, he had to be replaced by Petr Gazdík, who brought him juice "to recover". Who knows what healing ingredients were in the drink, judging by Hamáček's twisted expression after the fortifying sip. There was also a somewhat embarrassing excuse about two shots of slivovitz for a sore throat.
No one will erase from the business card the drunken performance of another Speaker of the Chamber Radek Vondráček (ANO), who decided to move the alcohol party from the parliamentary corridors to the plenary hall with a guitar in hand and play there in the spirit of popular pub entertainment.
Whether MPs need criminal immunity and generous salary supplements for such behavior is a question that everyone should answer for themselves. However, the conduct of the above-mentioned individuals differs fundamentally from Ševčík's drunken extempore.
However undignified for the position of a constitutional official, it was a form of adolescent amusement that everyone occasionally indulges in. There was nothing amusing at all about the chauvinistic shouting of MP/drunkard Ševčík. Political combat includes a certain rhetorical theatre, where opponents attack each other argumentatively and occasionally resort to theatrical vulgarity, or even parodic sketches. Here we can recall, for example, the Pirates' walking backwards as a satire on the government's reactionary politics.
What satire on opposition politics did the latest outburst represent? Did Ševčík want to surprise those around him with his knowledge that Michaela Šebelová is a woman? Will the argumentative clash between politicians shift to the point where when Ševčík himself takes the floor in Parliament, Šebelová starts shouting at him from the bench that he has a "small …?".
The situation developed differently. Ševčík was taught a lesson that he doesn't know how to behave and that he should apologize. Before the reproachful finger of the MP whom he had been "manfully" mocking just moments before in the safety of the crowd, he fearfully put his hands up. His boss Okamura went to defend him and clashed with Šebelová's boss, Rakušan. Allegedly there were vulgarities. The shouting MP wasn't shouting in Parliament for the first time, so we probably can't expect a pitiful apology accompanied by a sad memory of two shots of plum brandy for a sore throat, although an experienced opposition veteran would find a recipe.
"Please, be unyielding and see it through: new agenda item, MIV, Org.v., paralyzing the chamber-pauses- until Šefčík and Okamura properly apologize. Don't let it fizzle out! Be principled, otherwise this plague of boorishness won't stop!"
messaged the freshly former senator Miroslava Němcová on X to her chairman from ODS. Perhaps the game around the pause joking will drag on.

@makupka @Sima_Ondra Prosím, buďte neústupní a dotáhněte to: nový bod programu, MIV, Org.v., paralyzování sněmovny-pauzy- dokud se řádně neumluví Šefčík i Okamura. Nenechte to vyšumět! Buďte zásadoví, jinak se ten mor buranství nezastaví!
