Can you imagine the life of a young noblewoman in today's modern age? Lila Schwarzenbergová spoke about her life in a way that takes one's breath away. She completely fulfills fantasies, fears, and assumptions you might make about life with Karel Schwarzenberg.
"I always looked down, saw my friends' houses and wished I lived down there,"
she confides in her documentary. And so maybe part of her youth was spent dreaming about the unattainable life of a simple girl. Unlike them, who in turn dreamed of the life of a little princess.
She was a normal little girl, a normal daughter, who longed not only for friends, but also for the love of her father. This is the story of Lili Morgan Schwarzenberg.
But it wasn't so simple with that.
Lila recounts how as a child she was even occasionally afraid of her father, given the inaccessible wall and aura he had around him. He was always working, their "vacations" were more his business trips. They never went on leisurely vacations like her classmates did.
Moreover, this is how you might imagine childhood as a little girl of a venerable nobleman. Lili and the prince found a relationship with each other only when she had her own children.
Perhaps a different approach to a daughter and a son also played a role. It was noticeable that the son had more value for the future of the aristocratic family. However, she did not feel unloved, not at all. She just never found the role of a princess natural.
When Lila was three or four years old, they moved to the Murau castle in Austria. They had a servant, a nanny, a cook. Little Lila was addressed by everyone as "Your Grace". Guess where she liked to run away to? Just like it happens in fairy tales. Little Lila Schwarzenberg also loved to spend her time in the kitchen, among the servants and she was happiest there. They even started to call her "Lila from the kitchen". She also played football with the employees, which of course her strict father did not like. Part of her childhood was also spent with a friend who had five children. This strongly influenced her desire for a family later on.
Internal discontent was transformed into rebellion. Lila succumbed to drugs, stole, cheated and gradually all the wide-open doors closed in front of her. The helping hands closed.
How did she later recall that turning point?
"I went to him and he said to me: I've been waiting for this moment for years. The next day he went to treatment with me. There were no recriminations, even though I stole from him. I pawned many inheritance possessions. Horror,"
described. This created a bond between her and her father, but the distance remained.
To this day, Lila doubts herself. Even her marriage to British screenwriter Peter Morgan did not bring her happiness, but it did result in five children. She retained a passion for film and television projects. The breakdown of the marriage saddens her, but she has understood more about the relationship of her parents because of it. However, it still hurts when one of her children accuses her of being a "cold mother"...
When she then made a documentary My father, the prince about her father, she was not sure if it was a good idea. She was motivated by his age and transience of moments. The demanding shooting brought an amazing project for her, which she looks back at with a lot of gratitude over time.
"You're not here to be happy, but to fulfill tasks" is the sentence the document ends with. And probably most accurately documents their relationship.
Definitely it is a document that leaves a deep sense of contradiction within you.
The audience notices reserve between the two actors.
It gives the impression of a conversation of two strangers, not family members. Whereas Lila, in the document, leaves a trace of the sadness from a cold childhood, her father blames her for chaos and clumsy handling of money.
It is more like her own confession and self-psychotherapy. Thanks to this, however, we were able to glimpse into the soul of an adult woman, a little girl, an aristocrat. Who didn't really strive for her role.
