A place where culture comes to life and awakens the desire to live in people. The heart of Prague, as the Old Town is nicknamed. If a person longs for a home like in a romantic, elegant film, they will find it here. It is an area that breathes historical past with a flavor of endless city entertainment. Morning coffee with beautiful views of the waking city, or an evening glass with jazz music? Both are on offer.
The Old Town in Prague 1 is the oldest and perhaps the most picturesque district of the entire metropolis. It is therefore no surprise that we find some of the most beautiful architectural monuments and buildings here. Any stroll through this area will instantly change into a mere delight in this magical place. The charm of narrow streets and adorable cafes will surely captivate everyone. It also served as inspiration to world-famous writer Dan Brown, who set part of his new novel right here - in the heart of the Old Town. So if you are looking for a place to live that will not just be a building, but a piece of you and your dreams. This location is waiting just for you.
Living in the Old Town will prove to you every day with its unique atmosphere that it is the right way to live. You can look forward to views of the Týn Church, walks across Charles Bridge, and you will only be a few steps away from the much-loved embankment. You will feel a hint of undying history in every place thanks to preserved buildings. Essentially, you will be in the living version of a history textbook. Art Nouveau, Baroque or maybe Gothic. Thanks to the rich history, you will be able to enjoy your favorite style here.
"The Old Town, with its narrow streets, is the essence of romance. Combined with the wide boulevard of Parisian Street, it brings a unique atmosphere of a living historical city."
said the mayor of Prague 1 district, Terezie Radoměřská, for LP-life.cz.
The atmosphere is also enriched by a rich culture complemented by the best of gastronomy. Thanks to its strategic location, there are countless galleries, museums, concert halls and theaters nearby. Festivals, concerts, markets, and even Christmas ones on the Old Town Square, take place here all year round. A winter walk with mulled wine in hand? That sounds absolutely wonderful. Wherever you go, there is a charming café or a nice restaurant waiting for you. For real gourmets, the renowned Michelin-starred restaurant Field, known for its chef Radek Kašpárek, is also nearby. For a great breakfast, you can enjoy Bistrot Monk, and for a proper dose of caffeine, you can stop by Café Louvre. With a bit of imagination, you will feel as if you are enjoying a coffee in Paris.
Perhaps the biggest advantage is the location itself and its placement. Prague's infrastructure can be a bit complex, so it's always good to have public transport close to home. Metro, bus or tram? Here you will always be sure that something will be running, at the same time, however, you will be able to get everywhere on foot. The surroundings are fully functional in terms of any necessary civic amenities. There are pharmacies, groceries, schools, healthcare facilities, or even fitness available here. The City District of Prague 1 also cares about the safety and comfort of Prague residents. In mid-September, for example, it launched a campaign for a quieter and safer center in cooperation with Prague City Tourism.
"Praha 1 is a place where the everyday life of the inhabitants meets intensive tourist traffic. It is our duty to protect the quality of life of people who live here and at the same time to create an environment in which visitors will feel welcome and safe. This campaign is meant to help remind the basic rules that allow coexistence in the city center to be pleasant for everyone,"
said the mayor of Praha 1 Terezie Radoměřská.
Last week, she also succeeded in the long-disputed topic of electric scooters and officially puts a stop to it. This means the end of fear of a panicked tourist crashing into you on a rental electric scooter.
"This shift by the capital is finally a concrete step that we as a urban district have been demanding for a long time. Scooters in public spaces are not just a question of aesthetics, but above all safety and free movement of pedestrians,"
adds Vojtěch Ryvola, councilor of Prague 1 for transportation.
If you are scared of city hustle, you don’t have to worry. You can go out for a walk in the nature, or even run to the nearby Kampa, or Letná parks. You can find a little peace on the Vltava coast and a trip to the Štvanice island is always a good idea. There are also plenty of quiet zones waiting for you nearby.
The Old Town perfectly combines the extroverted hustle and bustle of this metropolis with the tranquility sought by more introverted citizens. In the end, everyone will find their own here, which makes this location so exceptional.
