Fed Resists Trump's Pressure to Lower Interest Rates

As expected, the US central bank (Fed) once again left its key interest rate unchanged in the 4.25 to 4.50 percent range. Thus, it continues to resist pressure from US President Donald Trump to lower rates. It stated that the unemployment rate in the United States remains low, while inflation is still somewhat elevated. Last September, the Fed began cutting interest rates in response to falling inflation to support the economy. It reduced the base rate three times last year, a total of one percentage point. However, so far this year, it has kept interest rates unchanged, the portal Ceskenoviny.cz reported.

Airbnb Platform Withdraws 65 Thousand Rental Offers in Spain

The Spanish government together with municipal and regional authorities launched a comprehensive crackdown on tourist accommodation offered through websites like Airbnb and Booking.com. Therefore, Airbnb has also withdrawn from its platform more than 65 thousand offers of holiday rentals, said the Spanish Ministry of Consumer Rights. According to them, these offers did not respect the valid regulations. Most of the blocked Airbnb offers did not provide a license number. For others, it was not stated whether the owner is a natural or legal person. The ministry also identified tens of thousands of other illegal offers, reported by the server Ceskenoviny.cz.
