The CBS television station shortened an interview with Donald Trump in the 60 Minutes program, in which he falsely claimed that China and Russia are testing nuclear weapons or that he supposedly managed to refute all the legal "nonsense" that was thrown at him. According to a representative of the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians active in construction, everyone is currently fumbling on how to authorize and approve construction, in the case of the planned amendment to the building law, it would no longer be certain with whom applicants should even handle building permits and approvals.
During his interview on the 60 Minutes television show, President Donald Trump called the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, a "kamikaze", complained about investigators who had searched his wife's closet, and spoke in detail about ending wars in Gaza or Ukraine. However, viewers who watched the CBS television broadcast on Sunday evening did not see any of this. Only less than half of the interview, which was pre-recorded, made it onto the broadcast. However, CBS published the video of the entire 73-minute discussion online, so viewers themselves could see what the president said and what the station considered suitable to put directly into the 28-minute segment, reported the agency AP.
Engineers and technicians regard the amendment to the building law, planned by the ANO, SPD and Motorists' government, as problematic and rather unrealistic. The legislation approved by the current outgoing government has already been translated into dozens of other laws, decrees and regulations. Cancelling non-functional regulations, standards and environmental requirements for construction could then clash with the public interest or European standards, which are also demanded by many builders and investors. ČTK was informed by the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians active in construction.
"While everyone is currently groping in how to issue building permissions and approvals, it would not even be certain who to handle building permissions and approvals with,"
said the president of the chamber Robert Špalek.
Ukraine is showing great interest in EU membership, but it must reverse negative trends related to corruption, rule of law, and civil society. This is stated in a draft report prepared by the European Commission. The European Commission has previously criticized the Ukrainian government for weakening the independence of anti-corruption agencies, which has led to numerous protests in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Parliament then took some changes back. The Ukraine applied for EU membership at the end of February 2022, shortly after the start of the Russian invasion, reported the portal Ceskenoviny.cz.
