Early bird: The Oscars transmission will be moved to YouTube. Already 100 billion crowns went to the ammunition initiative
The live broadcast of the film awards presentation may, after years, move away from television screens to the YouTube internet platform. Ukraine's supporters, as part of the Czech munition initiative, contributed approximately 100 billion crowns, said former Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský. The fate of the internationally recognized initiative is unclear with the new government.
Oscar Handover Moves to YouTube
In a fundamental change to one of the most significant television events, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday that it will leave ABC and begin broadcasting on YouTube from 2029. ABC will broadcast the annual ceremony until 2028. That year, the 100th Oscars ceremony will take place.
From 2029, however, YouTube will acquire the global rights to broadcast the Oscars until 2033. YouTube will thus become the home for everything Oscars-related, including red carpet reports, Governors Awards, and Oscar nomination announcements. The organizers hope the move will increase the international impact of the event, reported AP.
The Czech Ammunition Initiative was supported by a frequent 100 billion crowns
The activity of the former government under the leadership of Petr Fiala (ODS) has so far received support of up to 100 billion crowns for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine, which is resisting Russian aggression. The sum was mentioned according to ČTK by former Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (indep. for ODS).
However, its continuation under Czech management is uncertain due to the unclear position of the current government. While representatives of all three coalition parties criticize the initiative and repeatedly talk about its abolition, the new defense minister Jaromír Zůna (for SPD) stated that nothing will change about it. The Czech Republic contributed approximately 3 billion to the initiative.
Prince William and his son George commemorated Diana with a charity event
The Prince of Wales and his son George volunteered this week for a homeless charity in London. This visit reminds William of his own childhood, when his mother Princess Diana brought him to a shelter at a similar age.
On Tuesday morning, William and twelve-year-old George visited The Passage, a British charity for the homeless in central London, to help prepare for the annual Christmas lunch. In a video posted on the official account of the prince and princess of Wales, George can be seen putting on an apron, hanging Christmas decorations, and helping with the preparation of food for celebrations, reported CNN.
Silverware Thief in the Elysée Palace Uncovered
Three men will be prosecuted after a butler employed in the official residence of the French president was arrested this week for stealing silverware and table service worth thousands of euros. The chief administrator of the Elysée Palace reported missing items, their value estimated between 15 000 and 40 000 euros.
The Sèvres Manufacture, which supplied most of the equipment, identified several missing items on internet auction sites. Employee interrogations at the Élysée led investigators to suspect one of the butlers, whose inventory records gave the impression that he planned further thefts. Investigators found that this man had a relationship with the manager of a company specializing in the online sale of items, especially tableware, said the AP agency.
