Russian general car explosion

A car bomb killed a Russian general on Monday, marking the third murder of a high-ranking military officer in just over a year. Investigators stated that Ukraine could be behind the attack. Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, the head of operational training of the Russian Armed Forces' General Staff, died from his injuries, according to AP, citing Svetlana Petrenko, the spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee. He was 56 years old.

Since Moscow sent soldiers to Ukraine almost four years ago, Russian authorities have accused Kyiv of several murders of military officers and public officials in Russia. Ukraine has admitted to some of them. It has not yet commented on Monday's death.

Danish Minister annoyed by the behavior of Trump's envoy in Greenland

The Danish foreign minister stated on Monday that he is deeply concerned about the appointment of a special envoy to Greenland by President Donald Trump, who said he would like the island to become part of the United States.

"I am deeply upset about the appointment of this special envoy. And especially his statements, which we find completely unacceptable," Lars Løkke Rasmussen told the Danish national television TV 2, according to CNN. Rasmussen stated that in response to the step of the Trump administration, he would summon the US ambassador in Denmark. Further state officials had already mentioned earlier that the US can not arbitrarily annex Greenland's territory.

Trump wants to close wind power plants

The USA is immediately suspending land leases for offshore wind farm projects, which are currently being built near the Atlantic coast, for security reasons. In its statement, the Interior Department said it was suspending five major projects to investigate how wind farms might interfere with radar and present other risks to cities on the east coast.

President Donald Trump has long rejected wind energy, arguing that it is unreliable and increases costs, and tried to stop all projects after returning to office. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated that wind farms have no future in the US power grid. Companies involved in renewable energy and representatives of individual states expressed concern about the government's stance. The power plant owners pointed to the fact that there had been no security threats during the several years the plants had been operating, BBC reported.
