Fashion and politics. Many would say that these sectors do not really go together. The opposite is true. Although some people do not realize, style and clothing tell a lot about a person. And who needs to appear certain, confident, but still elegant more than women moving in the political field? We have not included only Czech politicians in the strict sense of the word, but also prominent women working in the political space, who inspire others with their style on a daily basis.
Fashion is not just superficial fun and a vice of many women. It is a way to express ourselves and show what we stand for. A crumpled sweatshirt indicates not only a forgotten iron, but also that we do not strive for perfection. On the other hand, a stylish outfit is not just appropriate clothing, but also exudes self-confidence and determination to not be pigeonholed. Ultimately, you can read more from someone's clothes than you think. Fashion also gives us the opportunity to criticize and feel superior. The Czech political scene is very specific in and of itself, but even on it, women receive criticism for just about anything but what is important. That is why their clothes serve as a kind of shield and protection against individuals who consider an ugly blouse a reason for a personal attack. And who do we think is succeeding in style?
Who else to start with than the president's wife? First Lady Eva Pavlova embodies elegance, taste, and charm. A timeless wardrobe can be observed in almost every outfit this woman wears. We can also highlight her color choices. Very often we have a chance to see her in light blue, which greatly flatters her due to her light hair and blue eyes. Pastel and gentle colors are typical for her, making her appear delicate. Although it might seem like the first lady avoids colors, this is not the case. Occasionally, she is not afraid of red or royal blue. But always with taste and charm that is so natural to her.
Eva also very much enjoys supporting local designers, having worn pieces from Tatiana Kováříková, Zuzana Kubíčková, Blanka Matragi, Štěpánka Pivcová or Beata Rajská, from whom she got the costume she wore for the coronation of Karl III.
We will also visit our neighbours, because without this person the list could not be complete. The lawyer and former president of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, is not only a very capable politician, but also always tastefully and representatively dressed woman. If there is something exceptional about her style, it is that she is not afraid of colours. Purple, brilliantly turquoise or green? No colour scares her away and unlike our first lady we definitely do not mean pastel shades. However, wearing such extravagant shades requires taste, otherwise it could quickly become a fashion faux pas. This has never been threatened here, though. She sticks to the clear rules of dress code and colours just add an extra touch.
From the younger generation, it is the slightly extravagant Pirate Party representative Katerina. She brings something new to the parliament with her unusual red hair. Otherwise, in her style, we can see youthful elements that go hand in hand with today's fashion. Katia is not afraid of striking belts, slightly corset, lace or satin. Outfits are tasteful, but a knowledgeable eye will not miss a certain youthfulness. And for us that is good. There is no reason for young ladies to have to wear outdated models just to fit in. Not to mention that the Pirates clearly fit this image. Ivan Bartoš is a clear example of this.
An entrepreneur and former Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency on her Instagram proves that she is not alien to trends either.
Khaki down jacket, floral joker or oversized dress. Matching suits suit her very much and are a striking piece of her wardrobe, but there are also more casual pieces. She cleverly combines both of these advantages with a knitted color vest. Her style could be described as elegant or casually formal.
These ladies, however, all know that fashion is not just an accessory, but an important part of each of us. Every day they prove that intelligence can also be in style, and we thank them for it.
