Zelenskyj met with Trump to discuss the war in Ukraine
American President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyj agreed that their meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague was very good. Trump declared that Russian President Vladimir Putin "really needs to end the war," and said he wants to talk to him about it. The U.S. will consider whether they can provide Kyiv with additional Patriot air defense systems, Trump told reporters after the meeting. Zelenskyj's intent was mostly to talk to Trump about the possible expansion of sanctions against Russia and additional arms supplies to Kyiv, reports Ceskenoviny.cz.
American President Defends Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
Donald Trump is urging the Israeli justice to immediately halt the corruption case against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Trump, Netanyahu deserves this after an operation by the United States and Israel against Iran, reported Al Jazeera.
Netanyahu's trial, in which he faces charges of corruption, fraud, and breach of trust, began in May 2020. The Prime Minister initially sought to delay it in connection with the war against the Hamas terrorist movement in the Gaza Strip, and later due to a campaign against the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. Netanyahu denies the charges and insists that he is a victim of hostile media and courts.
Armenia arrests archbishop over alleged coup plot
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the country's security forces have thwarted a coup plot, in which leading clergyman Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan was involved. This leader of the oppositional Holy Struggle movement is the head of the influential Apostolic Church. The Church called for Pashinyan's resignation after Armenia lost a war with Azerbaijan in 2020, reported Al Jazeera. Due to suspicions that the opposition now has the means and tools necessary to carry out a terrorist attack and seize power, 14 people have already been arrested.
Ancient ship found in Dubrovnik
An 18th-century ship was discovered in Dubrovnik. The local diver and underwater builder Ivan Bukelic stumbled upon it while repairing water pipes in the harbor. The vessel was about 60 to 80 centimeters below the sea floor. In the Middle Ages, Dubrovnik was a key port in the Adriatic Sea. Currently, it is declared a UNESCO protected monument, reminded the agency AP.
