Rescue operations are in full swing on the Tibetan slopes of Mount Everest. The region is currently plagued by extreme weather, warned CNN. The storm here began on Friday and gradually strengthened on the eastern side, favored by mountaineers. Hundreds of local villagers and rescue teams have been deployed to clear the snow, which blocks access to areas over 4900 meters above sea level. According to the media, 350 people have been rescued so far, who were taken to a nearby village.
Avoiding a provisional budget is reportedly highly unlikely
The Czech Republic is likely to start the year operating under the limited regime of a provisional budget. Former Finance Minister Alena Schillerová (ANO), who is seeking to return to this position following ANO's victory, considers it highly unlikely that the country will be able to avoid it. This would mean, for example, a complete halt to transport investments, with a lower deficit unlikely to be anticipated, the server Ceskenoviny.cz stated.
India is investigating the deaths of at least nine children due to toxic substances in syrup
Indian authorities are investigating whether a contaminated cough syrup caused the death of nine local children since late August. Each of them was said to be less than five years old. The investigation was ordered by the Indian Federal Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The ministry stated that samples of the cough syrup Coldrif, produced by Sresan Pharma, were tested by state authorities. It was discovered that they contain diethylene glycol (DEG) in amounts exceeding permissible limits. DEG is a toxic substance used in industrial solvents, which can be lethal even when a small amount is ingested, said Al Jazeera.
Oktoberfest ended on Sunday with a traditional Bavarian salute
The 190th Oktoberfest ended in Munich on Sunday with a traditional Bavarian rifle salute. About 6.5 million visitors took part in the event.
