Nurses from Blue Code, Inspector Max or Dads on a Mission. You might recognize the face of Jan Nesvadba from these TV projects. Now, a joyful breakthrough has occurred in his acting career – he received the prestigious Czech Lion award for a supporting role in the miniseries King of Šumava 2.
He was born in 1990 and comes from Děčín. He is not one of those actors whose path was clear from childhood.
He studied practical nursing at a secondary medical school. However, after high school, he enrolled in Prague's DAMU, where he successfully completed studies in alternative and puppet theater.
After studying, he felt drawn abroad. He went to Norway and even secured a theater engagement there. From 2018, he began appearing on television screens, initially in smaller roles. In 2019, however, he got the opportunity to showcase his acting skills to audiences and directors by playing one of the main roles in the web series Skrna. This was followed by more significant roles. Among them, for example, is the role of the poet Václav Bolemír Nebeský, the lover of Božena Němcová, in the miniseries Božena. In 2024, he also appeared in the award-winning film by Jiří Mádl Waves.
However, his portfolio of theater roles is also very rich. Since 2019, he has been performing at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň. He also guest stars at the Divadlo Na Zábradlí in the play The Curious Case of Mr. Holmes. He is engaged at the National Theatre, where he performs in the play Colonel Švec. You can also see him at the Estates Theatre in the performance of Enchanted Land and at the Alfréd ve dvoře Theatre in the original play Tamura.
In 2021 and 2022, he portrayed the younger Jan Werich (alternating with Vojtěch Kotek) in the play Werich at the summer stage of the Museum Kampa.
At the Czech Lion Awards 2026, he arrived in good spirits and in a suit with a First Republic style, complete with a stylish hat. His outfit was a nod to the series King of Šumava, for which he received a nomination. He arrived accompanied by his attractive girlfriend.
This was not his first nomination, however. He had a chance to win the prestigious statue back in 2023 for his acting performance in the feature historical film Brothers, where he starred alongside Oskar Hes and Adam Ernest. However, he did not win that nomination, so he can now look forward to his first Czech Lion.
He answered journalists' questions very willingly, and we congratulate him on his well-deserved victory!
