The Golden Globes 2026 offered old Hollywood, a lot of black, a few daring transparent models, but also several moments when celebrities simply made a mistake.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

The red carpet of the Golden Globes 2026 was marked by glamour and a return to classics, but colors and modern "naked dressing" were not missing. Some stars found a balance between how to be elegant and stand out from the first glance, others paid for proportions, poorly chosen cut or styling that didn't do the dresses good service. Join us in looking at what robes appeared on the red carpet this year.

Selena Gomez in Chanel: Like a diva from yesteryears

This time, actress Selena Gomez played a card that never fails on the red carpet: old Hollywood glamour from the brand Chanel. And it paid off. The black evening gown with feather shoulders looks like it's cut from the era of film icons, when women in society didn't strive to shock with provocative outfits, but wanted to be elegant, highlight the silhouette and show a bit of their charisma. The tight cut beautifully mirrors her figure, helping her that in recent months she has lost a lot of weight and feels good and confident in tight dresses. At the same time, the cut of the evening gown highlights the shoulders, while the striking feather edge adds unmistakable nobility to the dress. It's not too much, it doesn't look like a carnival costume and it's exactly the type of dress that can make an unassuming lady become a star on the red carpet.

A big plus is also the styling. Hair smoothed into waves in the style of the 40s, striking lipstick and delicate jewelry make it clear that the overall outcome here wasn't accidental. Selena definitely doesn't look like a woman trying to follow fashion trends at all costs. On the contrary. She looks like a lady who knows that the greatest luxury is simplicity pushed to absolute perfection. This is textbook luxury without a single flaw.

Amanda Seyfried in Versace: She shows again who the star is here

Amanda Seyfried knows exactly where her strengths lie and manages to utilize them without unnecessary experimenting. This time, she bet on pure, almost ancient elegance, and the result is spot on. White dresses by the brand Versace with gentle ruching beautifully fit the figure, emphasize the waist and work with the fabric in such a way that it appears light and luxurious at the same time. It's exactly the type of model that allows the woman to stand out without diverting attention to itself in a straightforward manner. And that's an art in itself on the red carpet.

The details work great too. The necklace lends a festive mood to the whole outfit without overshadowing the whole. The gloves subtly underline the old Hollywood atmosphere and the slick hairstyle clearly indicates that Amanda is riding the wave of sophisticated glamour, not cheap wow effect. Truth is, we can't even fathom her in provocative dresses that would be tasteless and vulgar. She always takes care not to draw attention to herself when it's not necessary. Yet she seldom misses, and that's very rare on the red carpet.

Teyana Taylor in Schiaparelli haute couture: Perfect Harmony

American singer Teyana Taylor knows precisely how to make the red carpet her own stage. And Schiaparelli haute couture is tailor-made for her. The black design with dramatic cut-outs, halter effect, and a prominently displayed silhouette is a showcase of fashion that's not just about the dress, but almost about life's viewpoint. Teyana doesn't look like someone who just put on a dress, but someone who definitely wanted to stand out. She wears it with her whole body, has perfect body posture and in the red carpet pictures, she perhaps looks the best of all. Every designer, who dresses her, gets perfect advertising from her. Posture, expression, work with pose - all of this makes her a fashion icon. A perfect figure, which makes the dress stand out, is then just a nice bonus.

Schiaparelli is a brand that can be heavy, theatrical and sometimes over-the-top. But here everything works exactly as it should. The reveal is thoughtful, not superficial, and the sharp lines beautifully contrast with femininity. A short haircut, bold makeup and a minimum of accessories highlight the model itself. Nothing is superfluous, nothing is missing.

Tessa Thompson in Balenciaga: Simplicity that made a show

Actress Tessa Thompson showed that when you have a dress that fits perfectly, you don't need to make a circus around it. And that's exactly what her look from the Balenciaga brand was about. Golden olive sequins, clean line, no straps, no extra neckline. Just a perfect fit that mimics the figure and highlights natural elegance. The dress acts like a second skin and proves that simplicity can be much more expressive than an abundance of details. The color also plays a big role. This shade of gold is not ostentatiously opulent, rather sophisticated and mature. It shines on the red carpet, but does not scream. And that's exactly what makes Tessa one of the most stylish women of the evening.

The styling is smart and restrained. Hair loose, subtle makeup, understated jewelry. Nothing distracts attention from the dress or from her herself. The overall look is confident, calm, and very luxurious. For this we can only take our hats off. And it is noticeable, when those who really know their job do it, there is no need to try too hard and the result is fabulous.

Mila Kunis in Dior dresses: Boring and strange fit

Actress Mila Kunis this time chose a safe route. And that's exactly the problem. Corset dresses with a rich skirt and delicate ornament are not bad in themselves. They are elegant, polished, technically well-sewn. But for a woman with such a figure and natural sex appeal, it's not enough. This model seems more like "I won't mess anything up" rather than "wow, it's her". The cut is too settled, the pattern slightly old-fashioned and the whole lacks a moment of surprise. Moreover, the dress gives the impression that it does not fit at all the figure of Mila. It's as if the actress was afraid to attract some attention to herself and opted for certainty. Yet she is the one who can afford a deeper neckline, bolder color, more modern silhouette or at least more striking styling. Unfortunately, she is lost in the crowd here, instead of ruling it. Since Ashton Kutcher has been by her side, Mila tries not to stand out and usually wears models that do not excite anyone too much.

Even accessories and hairstyle don't help. Everything is correct, smooth, but lacking sparkle. For the Golden Globes, it either needs strong elegance or clear fashion opinion. This is somewhere in between. It's too cautious, without risk, without emotions. And easily forgettable. Next year no one will remember what Mila actually wore on the red carpet.

Miley Cyrus in Saint Laurent: Courage yes, balance less

Popular singer Miley Cyrus has never been afraid of fashion and Saint Laurent is exactly the house that can support her audacity and rock and roll flair. But this time the saying that less is sometimes really more holds true. The filtered black dress has a great base. They are sexy, dark and luxuriously looking at first glance. The problem arises at the shoulders. The distinct volume seems too harsh and takes away the lightness the dress would have otherwise had. They look beautiful in detail, but from a distance the overall impression is heavy handed and presumably pleases no one. Miley is also getting massively criticized by foreign fashion critics.

Miley has the figure and charisma to pull off a dramatic cut, but here the dress cut simply does not work in her favor, even though her rebellious personality can handle it. But the dress only draws attention to the shoulder area and instead of a wow effect, you wonder whether the dress is fighting with Miley, or she with it. All it had to do was reduce the volume or choose more delicate decoration and the result could have been much better. The styling contrastly is spot on and amusing. Hair, make up and sunglasses give the look the typical cool tingle that belongs to Miley. It's just a pity that the dress itself doesn't let her personality speak more and together it just doesn't work. Not even a luxurious Tiffany necklace around her neck saved it.

Ariana Grande in Vivienne Westwood: A Romance That Doesn't Work

Singer and actress Ariana Grande went for a certainty that has long been part of her. Romance, corset, and silhouette in the style of old Hollywood. Vivienne Westwood is a perfect choice for this type of dress. But this time, there was a bit too much of everything. The corset top is beautifully crafted and flatters Ariana. It holds shape, accentuates the waist, and gives the whole elegance. The problem comes with the bottom part. The voluminous skirt seems heavy, and together with the dark color and prominent structure of the fabric, it gives the impression that Ariana's petite figure absolutely cannot manage such a robe.

Those who dressed her probably wanted her to appear romantic, perhaps even fairy-tale like, but the styling did not help her. The hair, make-up and jewelry are very polished- again perhaps too much. The whole thing deserved more air. Perhaps a lighter hairstyle, less dramatic volume or even a different color. Ariana's fragility gets lost on the red carpet, it's not fun, it's not effective, one does not want to look at it.

This was a missed opportunity for the designers and someone in the salon should have already told Ariana that those dress will not be a good choice. Whoever insisted on them should now be ashame.

Jennifer Lawrence in Givenchy: On the Edge of Taste

This time, actress Jennifer Lawrence took a risky step. And it didn't end well. Her transparent dress with rich floral embroidery from Givenchy is exactly the type of model that can either emerge as a couture moment or an awkwardly embarrassing experiment. Unfortunately, this time it turned out more like the latter. Yes, from a craftsmanship point of view, it’s a challenging piece. Yes, the embroidery is detailed and luxurious. But the whole look is unreadable, it doesn’t work together and if you look at the dress really closely, it simply gives the impression at times that it’s somewhat vulgar. The transparency is too literal; the flowers strategically cover, but give no shape to the silhouette. The result is not a sexy "naked dress", but a chaos, that hurts the eyes.

The voluminous sleeves look like they belong to completely different dresses and add further visual chaos. Instead of holding the model together, it shatters the figure and takes away Lawrence's natural lightness and charm, which she otherwise has. The styling does not help - it is too delicate for such aggressive dresses, or conversely, the dresses are too loud for such fragile styling.

This is exactly the case when there are more dresses than women. And that's always a problem on the red carpet.
