The material, which crumples easily, also does not look luxurious, instead, it resembles cheap satin, which unnecessarily spoils the overall effect. However, the biggest problem lies in the back part of the dress. The train is so puffy and poorly cut that it creates an optical illusion.
It's almost as if there was a peacock or some other animal on the red carpet. It's more comical than effective, perhaps like a carnival costume. Instead of the dress serving Amal well and highlighting her slim figure, it looks shapeless and unnatural. Amal at least scores positive points for her silver sandals and natural makeup, which salvage the look a bit. Overall, however, it's a misstep. And that's surprising, twice over, for a woman who knows how to wear sophisticated elegance.
