Allegedly, he argued for Ukraine to surrender the entire Donetsk and Luhansk regions to Russia, thus accepting Putin's latest offer, according to which Moscow would in return withdraw from some areas in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. In his remarks after the meeting, according to AP, he said both sides should agree to stop fighting along the front lines.
Cargo plane slid into the sea
At least two people died after a cargo plane slid off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport and landed in the sea, the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Authority said. The picture circulating on social media shows the plane partially submerged in water. According to the footage, fire trucks along with rescue vehicles and vessels were moving towards the runway, wrote the television server CNN.
Afghanistan and Pakistan announce truce
After a week of fierce fighting, Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire "and to establish mechanisms for strengthening lasting peace and stability between the two countries". The fighting along their disputed border, which is 2,600 kilometers long, was triggered after Islamabad demanded that Kabul curb the rebels who have recently intensified cross-border attacks, as stated by Al Jazeera.
