Mortgages remain stable
The average mortgage rate at the beginning of November remained at October's 4.91 percent, thus still being the lowest since April 2022. Over the entire current year, it has fallen by approximately one-third of a percentage point. This can be seen from the data of the Swiss Life Hypoindex, which is calculated based on offer rates at the beginning of each month.
The volume of newly granted housing loans is indeed higher year-on-year, but it still does not reach the levels from 2020, when the volumes of contracted mortgages were record-breaking. The reasons are high real estate prices, household caution when taking on long-term commitments, and uncertainty about the further development of the economy, informed the portal Ceskenoviny.cz.
Czech Natalie Pushkinova became the winner of the Miss Earth competition
Natalie Pushkinova won the Miss Earth beauty pageant held in the Philippines. She is only the second Czech woman to earn this title, after Tereza Fajksova, who triumphed in the competition in 2012. In the 25th edition of Miss Earth, she beat nearly 80 other contestants. In the final, she beat a quartet from Chile, Brazil, Ukraine, and from the host country, the Philippines.
The Miss Earth competition has been held since 2001 and differs from similar events in its ecological focus. A condition for participation is demonstrable engagement in one of the projects aimed at environmental protection, said the website Ceskenoviny.cz.
Mexican President Became the Target of an Attack
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum made accusations against a man who allegedly harassed her and was "drunk". She described the incident as an "attack on all women". According to the Mayor of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, the man was arrested and is in custody of the department investigating sexual crimes. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the man pushed his way through a crowd of people welcoming Sheinbaum in Mexico City. As evidenced by the records, it seemed that he was groping her when he touched her breast and tried to kiss her. The incident ended with the intervention of one of her assistants, reported the television network CNN.
Swiss are asking to list yodeling on the UNESCO list
Yodeling, which has been echoing in the Swiss Alps for centuries, may soon receive an echo of recognition. The Swiss government wants to add this local custom to the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. The decision on what will happen is just around the corner. It is expected by the end of the year, as the agency AP pointed out. The local government in this context states that there are now at least 12 thousand people involved in yodeling in the country through about 780 groups of the Swiss Yodeling Association.
