Surroundings of the Italian Lake Lago Maggiore

One of the most prominent couples in the local show business is preparing for a big step. Soon, the well-known sports icon along with the star singer will move into a new home. How much will the megalomaniac building cost them? What other celebrities have lived there? Should a man be a provider in a relationship according to Dara Rolins? And why does her partner prefer private jet flights over first class?

While Pavel Nedvěd has been living in Italy for a long time, Dara Rolins has her home in the Czech Republic. Both of them commute between the Czech Republic and Italy. It's no wonder they wanted to take their relationship further and finally have a place they can both call home.

A Sad Historical Event

For their brand new refuge, they chose the beautiful and romantic landscape by Lake Lago Maggiore. The name translates simply to "large lake." The name corresponds to its area, which is up to 212.5 square kilometers. It is 66 kilometers long and stretches to a width of about 10 kilometers.

The remarkable body of water spans two countries. While the larger part is located in the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy, a smaller portion extends into Switzerland. Dara Rolins recently added a photo on her Instagram from this very lake, where she is together with Pavel Nedvěd on a boat, accompanied by a simple caption that says it all: "Our Lago," she writes in the post. Until their construction is completed, they are currently staying at a hotel there.

The romantic atmosphere of the surroundings is further enhanced by the fact that the lake was formed by the melting of a glacier at the end of the last ice age and is surrounded by large stones that themselves originated from the glacier.

However, the history of the surrounding landscape is also associated with a sad event. This event relates to World War II, when 50 Jews were executed there by German soldiers.

Many World Celebrities Have Lived There

Dara Rolins and Pavel Nedvěd are by no means the first to be enchanted by this place. The lake has attracted many notable personalities in the past.

Among them is the famous Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace, who acquired a lavish villa in the area for 5.6 million dollars (128.8 million CZK).

Its charm was also appreciated by the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. However, it is not just Italians who have fallen in love with this place. The American writer and Nobel Prize laureate Ernest Hemingway once sought inspiration for his captivating works there.

For his love of Italy, the Hollywood star George Clooney is also known. Allegedly, he fell in love with the country during a motorcycle trip across the Alps. It was around the lake that he sought refuge from the ubiquitous paparazzi when he purchased a villa from the well-known ketchup producer John Heinz.

Unfortunately, he didn't find full privacy and peace from journalists even here, and thus he publicly apologized to his neighbors for the commotion his move caused. In his residence here, he had a sort of private pizzeria where his guests could try to bake their favorite pizza. The acting icon was even visited in the picturesque landscape by the former American president Barack Obama.

New Joint Home for an Astronomical Sum

In 2022, they purchased land in the Italian town of Tronzano Lago Maggiore. The alleged price of the 2,000-square-meter plot is around one million euros (approximately 25 million CZK). Since then, they have been waiting for the completion of their new home, which is now slowly approaching. According to the singer's own statements, shared on her social media, they are expected to move after the summer. However, the singer had previously expected the completion to happen sooner.

The construction cost started at 40 million crowns. However, this is not the final amount.

"It appears to be an atypical building in an extraordinary location. Just by looking at the scale of the construction, one can infer that the property will be priced in the higher tens of millions of crowns,"

stated real estate specialist Dušan Měchura iprima.cz.

However, it will not be a house from a catalog, but a villa designed to measure by a local architect. The architect is Roberto Manzetti, who specializes in similar buildings and has extensive experience designing houses around the lake. That's precisely why the couple decided to collaborate with him.

It will be a modern, ecologically sustainable three-story building, as suggested by the solar panels on the under-construction villa. It will also include a terrace with a synthetic green floor, a pool with a relaxation zone, and an elevator. The entire villa will be architecturally designed in a minimalist glass style, so the couple can continually enjoy the captivating view of the lake.

However, this is not their only construction project. They also want to have a shared refuge in the Czech Republic, and so another house is being built for them in Prague's Divoká Šárka. Their commuting between the two countries definitely won't end with this. Whether both constructions are jointly financed equally, or financed differently, is unclear. Dara doesn't insist that a man should be the provider in a relationship, according to her own words.

"I can also be a great provider. I think that equality rules the world today,"

she revealed in our recent interview for LP-Life.cz.

There is also a scenario in play where while Dara covers the cost of a new refuge in the Czech Republic, the Italian villa is paid for by Pavel Nedvěd from his own pocket. It would undoubtedly be within his means, as evidenced by the fact that he quite often flies on a private jet. However, in his case, it's more about practical reasons rather than snobbery.

“I prefer a private plane because it gives you the feeling that you can come anytime and fly at any hour, which I think is convenient,”

he told us in this interview.
