Charlotte Ella Gott with her father

The daughter of the late legend Karel Gott is embarking on her own music career. A new era brings a change in her name as well. Most people remember Charlotte as the adorable little girl from the famous duet "Srdce nehasnou," which she sang with her father. But that's no longer the case. Charlotte has grown into a beautiful, confident woman, and nearly nothing remains of the little girl. With the approach of her twentieth birthday, she decided to drop the "-ová" from her surname and now, just like her father, she performs under the shortened surname Gott. On April 30, she will release her debut single and officially take over the family musical reins.

In recent years, we haven't heard much about Charlotte. The young artist has kept more to herself and hasn't been very active on her social media either. However, she is now opening up to the world and provided a very candid interview about her future plans, her musical career, and other topics to Elle magazine. She also spoke about changing her name and explained what led her to this decision. She stated that she feels like a citizen of the world and wants to direct her career more towards abroad.

In Too Deep

If you're looking for some new music to listen to in your free time with headphones, don't worry and take notes. On April 30, 2026, Charlotte will release her debut single "In Too Deep", which she collaborated on with a well-known and successful producer. Sacha Skrbek is credited with singles from really big names, such as Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, and Adele. Just because of this, it can be expected that the track will be quite far from the classic Czech pop. While the debut single is more of a teaser, we can look forward to a full album in the fall.

Charlotte also carries great expectations on her shoulders. After all, almost everyone is interested in how the daughter of our music legend will fare. It is clear that comparisons are inevitable for her. How she will handle it, we will only see, but if she has inherited her father's resilience, we need not worry about her.

OVÁ is no longer cool

The adaptation of surnames with the addition of "-ová" has been a fairly current and somewhat controversial topic since 2022, when women in the Czech Republic gained the freedom to choose which form of surname they prefer. While some see it as progress and an alignment with Western customs, others accept it with displeasure.

“Not taking your husband's surname is a feminist statement. Omitting -ová is just nonsense or an illegal declaration.”

Expresses one of the users on the website Reddit.

“She is beautiful and very similar to her dad, Karel Gott. I don't understand the irony again; in my opinion, she just changed the -ová, what's wrong with that? She is still Elle Gott, like Karel Gott. So stop it, you nitpickers! Give the girl a break, and if you enjoyed listening to Karel Gott, you should be pleased that his daughter sings and encourage her.”

One of the accounts on Instagram stands in her favor instead.

However, Charlotte knows what she wants and has decided to start her career with the shortened surname, Gott.

Doesn't want to live in the shadow

Charlotte has been a known personality practically from an early age. Thanks to her surname, she already has more than 170,000 followers on Instagram. Many are interested in how the daughter of our most successful singer lives. She revealed to Elle magazine that she doesn't want to live in her father's shadow.

"It's important for me to build my own name and start paving my own path,"

she stated in an interview.

While some people struggle with what they perceive as a lack of patriotism, Charlotte herself knows well where she's heading.

"I would like my music to reach as many people as possible. That's why I sing in English. I see myself as a citizen of the world,"
