Michal Horak, with your permission

With the onset of advent, singer and author of hits full of kindly humor, Michal Horák, holder of the Czech Nightingale for 2022 in the Discovery of the Year category, finds himself in a whirl of concerts, shooting and preparation for the holiday season. However, amidst talks about gifts, movies, and music, it turns out that Horák remains himself: humble, funny, and above all sincere. Although his creation is increasingly popular, his life off the stage is rather ordinary, even sympathetically civilian – and right now he is coming up with a new song "Socks", a small humorous Christmas gift, which humorously reminds us that even the most ordinary things can please the most.

Christmas is near: "I don't have gifts yet, but I must soon"

When it comes to Christmas shopping, Michal Horák laughs - he has a plan, but so far only in his head.

"I don't have yet, but I must very soon, I'm planning it," he admits with a calmness that many would envy in the period before the holidays. Still, from his tone, it is clear that he knows time is running faster than he would like.

And to whom would he never entrust gift wrapping?

"Probably anyone, except me," he says amusedly. "Even though I'm not very good at wrapping presents."
It's actually a bit of an admission that miracles of bows and paper can't really be expected - but the effort is appreciated.

Film tradition? Love Actually, of course

Michal has his Christmas classics set - and shares them with his sisters.

"With my sisters, we watch Love Actually, of course," he smiles.
No complicated rituals, no debates. British romance with Hugh Grant is a certainty every year.

Favorite Christmas song?

"Adeste Fidelis," he responds without hesitation.
The traditional carol apparently holds greater charm for him than modern hit parades - and this somehow suits his nature.

What does luxury mean to him?

"To have time."
Short, clear, apt. And in a time when he's performing, writing new songs and shooting music videos, this definition is more understandable than ever.

Politics or Business? Probably the Business

Many artists are today debating whether they should comment on politics. However, Michal chooses to keep silent:

"Wow, that's a very difficult question and I think everyone has to answer it for themselves."

And what if he had to choose between a political office and a billion-dollar business?

"Probably the Business," he laughs.
A significant political role clearly remains beyond his dreams and ambitions.

Music, Humor, and Ordinary Christmas in 2025

Michal Horák continues in 2025 in what he does best - creating music that entertains, soothes, and at the same time aptly comments on everyday reality. His concerts tend to be a mixture of sincerity and humor, which helps him maintain a solid place among the most popular young Czech performers.

A significant example of his playful and kind humour is the new song "Socks", for which an official music video has been released perfectly capturing the festive, yet easy-going Christmas atmosphere.

"Socks" cleverly poke fun at the typical Christmas gift — simple, often underestimated socks — and show that even a small thing can have its own unique charm. The song beautifully captures Horak's philosophy: appreciate the small things, be with people you like, and delight in small gestures.

And Christmas? For him it's not about perfect decoration or overflowing schedules.
It's about the people around him, about the music that accompanies the whole season, and about small traditions that are not abandoned.

When you say Advent time at Michal Horak's, you probably imagine exactly what he shows in the interview: light chaos, a dose of humor, no fake glitter, and an atmosphere mainly created by peace and loved ones.
And Heavenly Love. He never skips that, of course.
