Jaromír Jágr is a hockey legend

The legendary hockey player Jaromír Jágr celebrated his 50th a few years ago, yet he continues to entertain entire generations of fans. From a shy kid with a mullet, which became known as the "Jágr cut" at barbershops, he transformed into a gentleman who relies mainly on shirts and elegance. Throughout his life, he has adapted his wardrobe to the women by his side, but that was the only thing they got from him. Each of them anticipated wedding bells, starting a family, and hoped to be the one and only Mrs. Jágr. But none of them have succeeded in that yet. Although his current partner, TV presenter Dominika Branišová, already has a plan on how Jágr will pay for procrastinating for so long.

Few celebrities are as beloved by the nation as the famous number sixty-eight. Jaromír Jágr is simply a phenomenon that has captivated media and public attention for several decades. He never cared much for fashion. Besides his famous performances on the ice, his personal life, always interwoven with relationships with the most beautiful women in show business, also became legendary. Interestingly, each of these partners had a significant influence on how the hockey king looked during that period. Jágr regularly changed his style, wardrobe, and famous hairstyles precisely according to the taste of the woman who was by his side at the time. Although none of his partners have managed to change his views on marriage and children, what hangs in the closet at home is of no concern to Jágr.

The Era of Mullets, Acid-Washed Jeans, and Iva Kubelková's First Big Love

When a young lad from Kladno stormed into the overseas NHL, he caused a sensation not only with his brilliant play but also with his appearance. The 1990s were wild, and Jaromír Jágr became their main fashion icon in the Czech Republic. It was during this time that a phenomenon emerged, which still bears his name today. The hairstyle known as the mullet, with short hair in the front and long in the back, began to be simply referred to as "na Jágra" (like Jágr) in the Czech Republic. Men all over the country pleaded with barbers to create the same hairstyle on their heads. The hockey player loved this haircut, which many women perhaps still don't understand. Even now - and even back then - there's nothing particularly practical or flattering about it. But for the '90s, it was iconic.

At that time, his first official and very prominent partner appeared by his side, the then vice-miss Iva Kubelková. The young couple was like a revelation. In terms of fashion, the nineties were dominated by a laid-back style that sometimes bordered on the bizarre. Men during this period preferred to wear acid-washed jeans, oversized carrot-cut pants, and colorful jackets with massive shoulder pads. However, when Jágr went out with Iva, he usually wore leather jackets or loose shirts with an open collar. Iva was just starting her modeling career and tried to temper Jágr's clothing choices, but the hockey player still favored sporty comfort and youthful freedom. He decided to ignore fashion trends back then and simply wore what was available and practical. They got along great, the nation loved them, but after two years, their paths diverged because they had different priorities.

Lion of the Salons under the Guidance of Andrea Verešová

At the turn of the millennium, Jaromír Jágr met Slovak model Andrea Verešová, and this relationship meant a fashion revolution for him. Andrea was accustomed to high fashion standards, catwalks, and luxury brands. He quickly realized that if Jágr was to represent alongside her, his iconic hairstyle had to go. For fans, it was a bit of a shock when the famous hockey player had his hair cut short. The hockey rebel suddenly became an elegant lion of the salons.

The fashion around the year 2000 brought a bit of stylish extravagance to Jagr's wardrobe. Under Andrea's influence, he began investing in expensive tailored suits, luxurious silk ties, and branded accessories. At social events, he appeared in shiny fabrics, wore pointy leather shoes, and tinted glasses, which was a huge hit at the time. Andrea turned Jagr into a true gentleman. Their relationship was full of passion, constantly written about, and many thought it would be a lifelong love. Verešová was a great support to him during his career. However, even though things started off well and it seemed Andrea was the one, the relationship ended after six years. At least Jagr carried a small love for fashion from their relationship into the following years.

Short Romances and the Influence of Mom on Wedding Plans

After breaking up with Verešová, Jágr went through a period where he focused mainly on hockey, but beautiful women continued to circle around him. He had a short but very intense romance with the popular TV host Lucie Borhyová. At that time, Jágr, betting on sporty elegance, combined classic jeans with luxurious polo shirts. However, the relationship with the blonde beauty was short-lived. He then spent several years with model Inna Puhajková. Inna lived with him in Russia during his engagement in Omsk, where fashion took a back seat to the harsh Siberian climate. During that time, Jágr wore massive down jackets, fur hats, and tracksuits from prestigious brands. Inna was more of a quiet support who didn't try to radically change his style but rather adapted to his hockey routine.

For many people, it's a mystery why such a successful, wealthy, and handsome man never got married. The answer lies in his family background. The key and most influential woman in his entire life is his mother, known in the hockey world as "Mama Jágr." She took care of his household for years, cooked him Czech dishes, and created the perfect family environment he needed for his extreme athletic performances. Mama Jágr was always the absolute authority and the keeper of family values for him. None of the young models could surpass this strong maternal position and create such an environment that would lead the famous sixty-eight to the altar. Jágr himself has admitted several times that he sees marriage as a sacred step that he must undertake only when he is one hundred percent sure. However, even with the arrival of his fifties, that moment has yet to come.

Písek, Las Vegas, and a Return to Sporty Style with Veronika Kopřivová

Another significant chapter was the young model Veronika Kopřivová, with whom Jágr lived during his time in Florida and Las Vegas. This relationship once again significantly influenced what the hockey player wore. Veronika took an active interest in fashion, eventually starting her own clothing e-shop, and began dressing Jágr in a modern urban style. His hair grew a bit longer during this period, he sported a casual stubble, and his wardrobe was filled with trendy pieces.

Given the warm Florida weather, Jágr most often wore linen shirts, stylish shorts, designer sneakers, and sunglasses from world brands. Veronika made him look younger. Together, they took photos for social media, which the fans loved. Kopřivová significantly introduced him to the world of social networks. Even though things worked well for them for several years and Veronika easily adapted to the demanding life of an athlete, she eventually found her happiness elsewhere. Most likely because she longed for a family, but Jágr at that time was not yet ready for a paternal role. She found happiness with Miroslav Dubovický, known to Czech viewers from the show Bachelor, and later had a younger daughter with a new partner. Now she is single, but the door to Jágr has long since closed. He ended up in the arms of a TV host who, as the only woman in his life, doesn't mince words with him.

Current Peace and Naturalness with Dominika Branišová

Currently, Jaromír Jágr is experiencing a peaceful period alongside the model Dominika Branišová, a generation younger. Their relationship appears mature and harmonious from the start. Dominika presents herself as a modest girl who has no need to seek scandals and relies on absolute naturalness. This has immediately reflected in how the legendary forward looks today.

Under her influence, Jágr has abandoned any attempt at fashion extravagance. He opted for clean minimalism and comfort. You can most often find him in a simple monochrome T-shirt, quality jeans, a hoodie, or an elegant sports jacket when he attends a social event. He let his hair grow slightly longer, vaguely reminiscent of his famous era from the nineties, but this time in a much more refined version. His graying hair and groomed beard give him the immense charisma of a mature and wise man who no longer has anything to prove. Dominika creates a peaceful haven for him, and although wedding speculations regularly appear in the media, he has yet to take the step to the altar with Dominika. However, she already has a clear plan. "I clearly told Jarda that I want a carat for every year, so this year the engagement ring would have a six-carat diamond. It's up to him how long he'll delay. It'll be expensive for him," she remarked.
