The Naše plíce Foundation ceremoniously handed over a respirator to the promising chess star, Daniela, who suffers from a rare respiratory disease, with the participation of singer Tomáš Klus. The handover took place in Prague at the Václav Havel Library. This way, the fund has already helped the seventh patient to breathe better.

Never any checkmate again, Tomáš Klus wished while handing over a respirator to the chess player Daniela.

At the age of eleven, primary ciliary dyskinesia was diagnosed in Danielle, and due to the disease, she has problems with chronic cough and respiratory tract infections. Now she can be helped by the Simeox device, donated to her by the Nadační fond Naše plíce Foundation. The singer Tomáš Klus also attended the ceremonial handing over of the device at the Václav Havel Library, besides representatives of the foundation, who gave Danielle the device. The medical device will make Danielle's life easier and help her pursue her great passion, chess.

"Danielka has had a genetic defect of ciliary mobility disorder since she was a child, in English the abbreviation is PCD and it is primary ciliary dyskinesia and she has the misfortune of having a rarer form, because the movement of cilia is poor, because most patients do not have any, so the diagnosis took a very long time. Danielka constantly fought with lung inflammations and otitis media", says Danielka's mother.

Even singer Tomáš Klus was unaware of this disease, he handed over the device for better breathing to Daniela and as he himself stated, he did not hesitate to participate in handing it over.

It surprised me. One is always surprised when they learn new things that can bother some people, and I'm glad we were able to help one, one beautiful being, to relieve itself today.

Therefore, when the offer came in, that he could be the one, it immediately caught his attention. He therefore had one more special motivation. He was looking forward to meeting Daniela because Tomáš Klus himself plays chess with his eight-year-old son.

The only thing is whether there will be time, but otherwise when I read who Daniela is, I had to. Over time, I'm getting more and more beatings from my son in chess. And now I've met such a chess celebrity, so I can at least show off at home. She showed me two moves that I will break him with right at the start. He's eight and I'm looking forward to breaking him.

What would he wish for Daniela? "Above all, I wish her health, that the device would help and she would get better and better, and then I wrote her that it was an honor to meet her and that I wish her never any mate, both in life and in tournaments."

Daniela's illness complicated her school attendance. Due to frequent absences, she had to catch up on her studies at home. "Even before this disease was diagnosed, I missed a lot of school, I had to make up for the material, I was also often ill. Now I regularly go for check-ups and the only restriction is that I can't exercise completely, I can live with that." Daniela describes her life with the disease.

The handover of the device was also attended by Elena Jakubovič, the founder of the Our Lungs Foundation.

This is very sensitive to me. An important moment and it reminds me of why we founded Our Lungs. We established this charitable fund to help people for whom even a simple inhale can be a challenge.

Daniela is a talented chess player. What about her story personally struck the founder of the fund?

Determination, patience. Chess is about tactics, preparation and certainly talent. I think that Daniela is proof that even if you have some health problems you can still be an example and inspiration for healthy people.

Because the insurance company does not cover the cost of the respirator that will help Daniela, a collection was initiated from which the necessary funds were raised.

One hundred and seventy-six thousand thirty crowns. There were forty donors and this was our seventh collection, we have helped five people and two hospitals. And we continue to progress.

Thanks to the respirator, Daniela will have a higher quality of life and will not have to be hospitalized in the hospital. The device will do the work for the doctor.  "Because her cilia doesn't work like it does with normal people, so the device will do the work for the cilia, which means cleaning her lungs, which she had to be hospitalized for several times and doctors had to mechanically clean her lungs,"  Daniela's mother explains. Although Daniela can't play sports due to her disease, she still defeats her opponents in chess, which she loves so much and recently celebrated a great success.  "In terms of chess, this disease is not limiting me because I'm just sitting at the chessboard and thinking. Last month, in the middle of September, I won the Czech Republic Junior Championship for under twenty years old.  "Both Daniela's mother and Daniela themselves were touched by the presentation and thanked all the donors.

We sincerely thank all donors and hope that even health insurance companies will then provide that care to other patients, and that it may be an example of how that device will help improve quality of life.
