Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government survived a confidence vote in parliament on Wednesday and strengthened its mandate after the victory of the nationalist opposition in the Polish presidential elections deepened the political stalemate and raised doubts about Tusk's ability to implement key reforms. The legislators in the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, which has 460 members, voted in a ratio of 243:210 in favor of the government, whereupon Tusk's supporters rose to applaud him and chanted his name.
Tusk requested a vote saying that Poland is in a new reality after the defeat of Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski by nationalist historian Karol Nawrocki. Nawrocki, backed by President Donald Trump, is to replace Andrzej Duda, another conservative, who repeatedly blocked Tusk's efforts to reform, wrote the agency AP.
Scientists have discovered a new dinosaur species in collections of a Mongolian museum which, according to them "rewrites" the evolutionary history of Tyrannosaurs. They concluded that two skeletons 86 million years old, which they analysed, belonged to a species that is now the closest known ancestor of all Tyrannosaurs. A group of predators, to which the iconic T.rex also belongs.
Scientists named this species Khankhuuluu (pronounced khan-KOO-loo) mongoliensis, which means Dragon Prince of Mongolia. The discovery, published in the journal Nature, provides a window into how Tyrannosaurs evolved into powerful predators, who "terrorized" North America and Asia until the end of the dinosaur reign, said BBC.
