Prague's Lucerna hosted the ceremonial premiere of the two-part television film Gerta Schnirch based on the novel by Kateřina Tučková. Besides the film story, the outfits of the attendees also caught attention. Those who expected a flood of sequins and gowns whose trains need to be held up at the tram stop would have been disappointed this time. Guests mostly chose more modest clothing, comfortable cuts and black, which was occasionally enlivened by an interesting detail. And it was precisely in the details that one could see who managed to transform a simple combination into a successful model.
Milena Steinmasslová (71), also known from the series Ulice, opted for a light-colored pantsuit, under which she wore a dark lace top. The well-chosen contrast gave the outfit a festive touch and showed that a blazer doesn't have to belong only to work meetings. It's enough to let some lace peek out from underneath and suddenly it has an evening vibe. And it really suited Steinmasslová.
The double-breasted blazer with distinctive lapels looks elegant, and the actress let it shine without a flood of jewelry. Delicate glasses and subtle makeup nicely complement the whole look. Here, no one was trying to wear all the trends at once, and the result reflects that. A refined, flattering outfit that easily earned its place at the premiere. Although in Ulice she usually comes across as a wallflower, here it was exactly the opposite.
Actor Oskar Hes (27) paired a black shirt with beige high-waisted trousers with wide legs. He completed the ensemble with a black belt, lace-up boots and a light patterned scarf tied around his neck. The scarf was the best part of the entire styling. Without it, it would be a pleasant but fairly ordinary combination. With it, the outfit has personality and a slight retro touch. And that suits Oskar perfectly.
The proportions worked out well too. The shirt tucked into the trousers emphasizes the waist and allows their loose cut to stand out. At first glance, it seems that Hes put on the first thing that came to hand, but he hit the mark perfectly. It shows that for a formal evening, a jacket and tie tightened so much that one is afraid to even order a sandwich don't have to be the obvious choice. However, we have a minor reservation about the length of the trousers. The fabric is already "bunching up" a bit above the shoes and a slight shortening would benefit the lower part of the outfit. The wide legs would remain wide, they just wouldn't have to sweep the Lucerna. Otherwise, a very successful choice that has flair and serves its wearer very well.
Lucie Štěpánková (45), star of the series Polabí, wore a long dark shirt dress that she cinched with a striking black belt with a square buckle. And she did well. The looser dress gained shape thanks to it, the waist was accentuated and the whole outfit looks more thought-out. The belt was more important this time than the chosen jewelry.
The rolled-up sleeves give the dress lightness, a delicate necklace subtly decorates the neckline and the black clutch follows on from the belt. It's pleasant that the individual elements don't compete for attention. The actress stayed with a modest combination that works in the setting of a festive premiere. However, the lower part of the outfit creates a slightly heavier impression. The long dark skirt reaches almost to the ground and the shoes only peek out from under it. A somewhat shorter length would have shown the footwear and lightened the whole look. But the striking belt holds the outfit together so well that we're happy to forgive this little detail.
The star of the Polabí series, Kristýna Badinková Nováková (43), opted for a loose white shirt and very wide black trousers. She added a light beaded necklace, more prominent earrings, and a small black crossbody bag. The black and white combination is tried and tested, and the jewelry softens it nicely. The buttoned collar also creates an interesting contrast and the outfit looks relaxed.
The problem is that there's a lot of that figurative looseness both at the top and bottom. The shirt extends over the hips, the trousers are wide and long, so the waist almost disappears. The individual pieces would deserve a better chance to stand out. It would be enough to tuck the front part of the shirt into the trousers and it would immediately be clearer where one piece ends and the other begins. A small bag with a long strap adds more of an urban than festive impression. A simple clutch would move the combination much further. As it is, it's a pleasant outfit that's certainly comfortable to sit and walk in. But for a premiere, we'd wish for one more stop in front of the mirror and a minor adjustment of proportions.
She is considered a lady who doesn't age even with the passing years. And there are few occasions when actress Jana Švandová (79) doesn't look good. This time she chose a black base and let a long light-colored scarf with delicate stripes and fringes flow freely over it. She added a burgundy shoulder bag and red manicure. Simple, pleasant, and without the need to convince those around her that she wants to attract attention at first glance.
The light shawl does a good job here. It brightens the area around the face and breaks up the solid black surface. The burgundy handbag adds color that is sufficiently striking but doesn't disrupt the overall look. Švandová thus demonstrates an easy-to-use recipe for anyone who has an abundance of black in their wardrobe and doesn't want to acquire a completely new outfit for one evening. However, the most beautiful accessory of the entire evening was certainly the actress's smile. There was no doubt that she arrived at the premiere in a good mood.
Hana Vagnerová (43), known for her role in the series Vyprávěj, opted for a white t-shirt. She paired it with a dark jacket with zippers, wide black cropped trousers and black pointed ankle boots. A comfortable combination in which she can head out to the city, to a meeting or to the cinema without hesitation. However, for a gala premiere we would have welcomed something with a bit more flair.
The basics work well. The shorter jacket nicely complements the wide trousers and pointed shoes give the whole look a sharper edge. The white T-shirt pleasantly breaks up the dark surface. The most striking colour accent was provided by red lipstick, which together with loose waves brings the necessary "evening flair". However, we were less convinced by the sunglasses hanging at the neckline. We understand the practical storage, but during a photo shoot they unnecessarily attract attention and add another element to the jacket's zippers and the bag strap. In the bag would have been better this time. Vagnerová certainly shows that even a comfortable outfit can look good. For a more festive impression, it would be enough to swap the T-shirt for a simple elegant top.
