Trump Verbally Attacked NATO Again

During the overnight flight back to Washington, the American president stated that he had spoken with "about seven" countries regarding "patrolling" the Strait of Hormuz. Trump named China as one of these countries and emphasized that it is heavily reliant on oil supplies passing through this waterway. Although he did not want to name any other countries he had approached, he mentioned the NATO alliance, as well as other countries he believes must "defend their own territory."

Trump warned that if other countries do not respond, it could be "very bad for the future of NATO," adding that the US has been very kind to its European allies: "We didn't have to help them with Ukraine. Ukraine is thousands of miles away from us... But we helped them. Now we'll see if they help us. Because I've long said that we will be there for them, but they won't be there for us. And I'm not sure they would be," Trump said according to CNN.
