BBC Director Tim Davie

The Director-General of the British public service broadcaster BBC, Tim Davie, and the director of the news division, Deborah Turness, resigned after it was revealed that in one of the television's current affairs programmes, Trump's speech on the events after his electoral defeat, which he made in 2021, was edited to incite violence. In Slovakia, another two trains crashed, with a number of injuries on the spot.

Heads rolled at BBC over Trump speech editing

The two highest-ranking officials of the BBC resigned on Sunday amid an escalating scandal over impartiality and bias, plunging the British public broadcaster into one of the biggest crises in recent years.

BBC Executive Director Tim Davie and General Director of News Division Deborah Turness resigned after a highly critical report leaked, revealing among other things that the BBC misleadingly edited the speech of US President Donald Trump to make it appear he directly incited violence on January 6. Davie announced his resignation as the general director of the British radio and television company in a letter sent to employees on Sunday afternoon. His term's end was, according to his own words, solely his personal decision, CNN reported.

Power supplies in Russia were disrupted after a Ukrainian attack

Ukrainian attacks disrupted power and heat supplies to two large Russian cities near the Ukrainian border. The report comes at a time when Russia and Ukraine are almost daily attacking each other's energy infrastructure and US diplomatic efforts to end the nearly four-year war have so far been unsuccessful.

Ukrainian diplomacy has accused Moscow of deliberately endangering nuclear safety. Friday's massive drone and rocket attack by Russia was supposed to hit substations that power two nuclear power plants. Moscow claims that it intends to fulfill its obligations arising from the global ban on nuclear testing, despite President Vladimir Putin's recent order to explore the possibility of resuming nuclear testing, according to the agency AP.

Vance wishes his wife to leave her native Hindu faith

Vice President JD Vance declared that he hopes his Hindu wife will convert to Christianity one day, drawing attention to very sensitive issues faced by couples of different religious beliefs.

Experts who have provided advice to hundreds of couples who don't share the same religious views, according to the agency AP, argue that the key is mutual respect for religious traditions and sincere discussions about how to raise their children. Most of them agree that exerting pressure or even hope that the other partner will convert can harm the relationship. Especially in couples who are in public’s eyes.
