Alena Schillerová is not afraid of bold colors

From dark suits, she moved to bright colors, polka dots, and feminine cuts. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Alena Schillerová (62), proves that politics can have style too. Where does she score and where should she, on the other hand, dial it down?

Few Czech politicians have undergone such a significant transformation in recent years as Alena Schillerová (62). While she previously almost exclusively wore dark suits and understated dresses, today she isn't afraid of bold colors, striking patterns, or feminine cuts. You can see that she thinks about her wardrobe and no longer wears just what is expected of a politician. She might even have an expert helping her with her style. Clothing has become a part of her public presentation and personal brand. Unlike many of her colleagues, she doesn't try to hide her femininity under strictly tailored jackets with sharp shoulders, but prefers dresses that highlight the waist, elongate the silhouette, and appear elegant. Wrap or shirt dress styles are among her most frequent choices, and stylists regard them as some of the most flattering for her figure.

Colors suit her more than black

A big step forward was also that she stopped hiding behind black. Royal blue, bright pink, red, or fresh lime give her energy and brighten her face. In a blue silk blouse, she looks confident and fresh, while bright pink dresses show that she isn't afraid to be noticeable. Today, colorfulness is one of her strongest fashion signatures. When she chooses a simple cut and lets a single vivid color stand out, it works almost flawlessly. There is also a known styling advice that light tones near the face can visually rejuvenate and add brightness to the skin, which Schillerová has been using more frequently in recent years. People in colorful clothing simply always look a bit more "pleasant," which is certainly something that would be useful for a politician when building her name.

Polka dots, patterns, and small mistakes

That doesn't mean she never makes a mistake. Alena Schillerová has a weakness for bold patterns and sometimes there are too many in one outfit. Cream polka dot dresses look playful, but when combined with heavy black glasses, the whole ensemble seems heavy. On the other hand, there are only a few people who match their eyeglasses with their chosen outfit. A similar outcome is seen with some patterned blazers, which are not bad on their own but deserve a simpler rest of the outfit. Generally, a simple rule applies. The bolder the fabric, the more restrained the accessories should be.

On the other hand, monochrome models work very well for her. Black dresses with a subtle embossed pattern give a timeless impression, just like simple black sheath dresses complemented only by a small heart-shaped brooch. In these moments, the attention is drawn not to the clothing, but to the personality of the woman wearing it.

She doesn't underestimate accessories

Schillerová knows well that details matter. A delicate pendant, elegant watch, groomed nails, and carefully applied eye makeup are practically never missing. Distinctive eyeglass frames have become one of her trademarks, although they can sometimes appear dominant. Her hairstyle has also undergone a transformation. Today's lighter hair shade and medium length give her a more youthful appearance. It's precisely the work with small details that is one of the reasons why her style seems deliberate, not accidental. However, such a transformation has been particularly evident in recent years. At the beginning of her political career, she relied more on a "bureaucrat" look and seemed to try not to stand out.

Not every female politician dares with fashion

It's evident that Schillerová no longer considers fashion an unnecessary matter, but a part of her professional presentation. She knows how to use colors, cuts, and feminine silhouettes to her advantage and is not afraid to experiment more than most Czech female politicians. Of course, occasionally a model appears that could use fewer patterns or lighter accessories. Overall, however, her wardrobe has undergone a huge transformation. From the former bureaucratic austerity, she has become a woman who has found her own style and is not afraid to show it.

Which models can stay at the bottom of the closet?

Not all of Alena Schillerová's outfits have turned out as expected. The weaker aspect of her wardrobe tends to be some jackets and blazers with prominent hems or complicated cuts. Instead of visually slimming the figure, they often unnecessarily broaden the shoulders and waist. For a politician who otherwise works well with silhouette, it's a bit of a shame.

She occasionally also opts for materials that appear too heavy or dated. Bulkier jackets with bold lapels or contrasting hems add unnecessary harshness to the outfits and detract from their femininity. Yet softer lines, flowing fabrics, and simpler cuts suit her much better. There's also a question mark over some oversized models. While looser jackets or blazers may seem comfortable, on Alena Schillerová's petite figure they often create an unnecessarily bulky silhouette. On the contrary, when she wears well-fitting dresses or blazers that accentuate the waist, she appears more confident, elegant, and several years younger.

In the past few years, she has come a long way in her fashion choices and has found her own style that is easily recognizable. If she continues to stick to simple cuts, quality materials, and bold colors instead of complicated patterns, she will be among the best-dressed women on the Czech political scene. And that is a big surprise after her uncertain start.
