Angelina Jolie's House

A residence steeped in history will soon have a new owner. Actress Angelina Jolie (51) is selling a house in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz and is asking for nearly 30 million dollars. She bought the villa nine years ago after her breakup with Brad Pitt (62). At that time, she ensured her six children had privacy within the gated community of Laughlin Park. Now, she seemingly longs for a fresh start in every way.

This isn't just an ordinary property. The main building is designed in the Beaux-Arts style, a traditional academic art style taught at the famous École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. For interested buyers, this means they need to prepare to spend a staggering amount. Actress Angelina Jolie is asking for $29.85 million for the property, which is over 630 million Czech koruna. For that price, a potential buyer would also acquire a piece of Hollywood history. The expansive estate once belonged to director Cecil B. DeMille, one of the pioneers of American cinema.

The House Where She Recovered from Divorce

Those who believe in energies and symbolism might not be pleased with what Jolie's house was used for. It became her refuge during the time she was divorcing actor Brad Pitt. And it's no secret that it was not an easy period. She purchased the property in 2017 for 24.5 million dollars, less than a year after she filed for divorce.

The main building was constructed in 1913, designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett. Three years later, the former owner bought it for 28 thousand dollars. Interestingly, the house is now being sold for the "same amount" - just in millions. Director DeMille later managed to acquire the neighboring property, where Charlie Chaplin once stayed. He then connected both houses with an elegant glass corridor. The future owner also doesn't have to worry about space. The main villa covers an area of over a thousand square meters, with six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. Each of the famous actress's children had plenty of privacy. The plot has more than two acres, approximately 8,500 square meters. There's no shortage of a separate guest house with a living room and fireplace, and visitors have access to a private gated entrance. Here, it's certain that your visitors won't disturb you at all.

One of the most impressive places is the extensive library with wooden shelves reaching almost to the ceiling. The owners reach the upper shelves using a sliding ladder. There are also large fireplaces, paneled walls, vaulted passages, French windows, and a formal dining room intended for a large family and their guests. DeMille even had his own screening room in the mansion where he could watch developing films. The current offering shows little of the interior, likely to protect the privacy of Jolie and her children. However, older images reveal that the actress prioritized comfort and personal items over showcasing wealth in a grand way. The estate also includes a fitness studio, a pool house, a garage, and facilities for security staff. The garden near the pool has a special charm, surrounded by arch fountains, expansive lawns, rose beds, and ancient trees.

Countryside in the Middle of the City

The property may be located in the bustling city of Los Angeles, but once the main gate closes, one finds themselves in the middle of a countryside estate where time flows slower, and the surroundings invite you for a good cup of tea. A home where there is time for everything, children have space for everyday life, and nothing is missing that should be in a dream house.

The timing of the sale is likely not coincidental for Angelina's family. The twins Knox and Vivienne, whom she shares with Brad Pitt, celebrated their eighteenth birthday in mid-July. The actress previously stated in interviews that she stays in America because of her family and conditions related to the divorce. Once the children are grown, she wants to live differently. "I grew up in this city. I am here because I have to be due to the divorce, but once they are eighteen, I will be able to leave," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. The actress also owns an apartment in New York, which she says currently serves mainly for the children.

And not only Angelina is closing the door on the past. It has long been speculated that family relations are tense, and on her eighteenth birthday, Vivienne filed a request with the court to remove the surname Pitt. She wishes to be officially registered as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. She had already stopped publicly using her father's surname earlier. When she collaborated with her mother on the Broadway musical The Outsiders, she was listed in the program as Vivienne Jolie only.

Some of her siblings followed the same path. Shiloh filed a request for a name change on her eighteenth birthday in 2024, and the court later granted it. Maddox and Zahara initiated the appropriate legal steps this year. Even before that, however, they went by without Pitt's surname in both their personal and professional lives. Angelina has never commented on her children's reasons, but international media are clear about this. Their decision is yet another confirmation that reconciliation with their father has not yet taken place within the family. According to foreign media, Brad Pitt reportedly has only very limited contact with his adult children, and it is echoed from his surroundings that he is very troubled by the development of his relationships with his children.

A New Home Could Be Found in Cambodia

It's not yet clear where Jolie will actually move after selling the villa. Some reports speak of Europe, with which she has had a long-standing close relationship. The twins Knox and Vivienne were indeed born in Nice, France, and the actress spends a lot of time in Paris as well. However, Cambodia is mentioned most frequently. Jolie has repeatedly referred to this country as her second home and owns several properties there. She formed a strong connection with it during the filming of the movie Lara Croft - Tomb Raider. Her eldest son Maddox, whom she adopted in 2002, is also from Cambodia. Moreover, it is apparent that while Jolie wouldn't necessarily be invisible in Southeast Asia, she certainly wouldn't have inquisitive tabloid photographers on her heels. The more she remains silent about her family's privacy, the more foreign media are eager for information.

The actress has previously stated that after leaving Los Angeles, she wants to spend more time in Cambodia. However, it is possible that she won't stay in just one place. She plans to travel for her children and stay where they will be located at different stages of their lives. Therefore, selling the house may not mean a classic move from point A to point B. It seems more that Jolie desires a life divided among several countries, work, humanitarian projects, and family. From time to time, she will certainly visit America even after the house is sold. She is definitely not giving up acting. Next year, her new thriller The Initiative will be released, and this year she will appear in Anxious People, Every Note Played, or Sunny.

It seems that the villa in Los Feliz served as a safe haven during the toughest years after the divorce. Now, with the children grown, she might not have any significant ties to Hollywood anymore, and it's time to breathe a bit of freedom and discover new places. However, there is also the question of whether there might be a new man in her life with whom she wants to spend more time. Since her divorce from Brad Pitt, she hasn't appeared with another partner and has primarily focused on her family. However, if life connected her with someone who lives outside Los Angeles, it would make sense that nothing holds Angelina there anymore. Whether the villa will find a new owner among famous colleagues or be purchased by someone simply seeking a piece of tranquility in the midst of the bustling city remains to be seen.
